In the finale, the group unites to break into the military compound. Their goal is to rescue Nick, Alicia, Griselda, and Ofelia from certain death. Daniel Salazar, a former intelligence operative with nothing left to lose, unleashes a horde of walkers on the soldiers as a distraction. The season ends on a grim, chaotic note: the compound is overrun, the military is fleeing, and our survivors are driving into an unknown desert with no help in sight.

The season is less about "zombie killing" and more about the slow-burn realization that society is collapsing. It captures the confusion, the denial of the government, and the terrifying speed at which urban civilization unravels. Episode Index: Fear the Walking Dead Season 1 1. "Pilot"

The series opens in a derelict, abandoned church used as a drug den. Nick Clark wakes up from a heroin high to find his friend Gloria consuming another junkie. Terrified, Nick flees into the busy streets of Los Angeles and is struck by a car. Hospitalized, his wild stories of blood-eating monsters are dismissed as drug-induced hallucinations by his mother, Madison, and sister, Alicia. However, Madison's fiancé, Travis, believes there might be truth to Nick's terror. Travis investigates the church and finds pools of blood. Meanwhile, at the high school where Madison and Travis work, ominous signs appear: low student attendance, internet videos of citizens surviving multiple gunshot wounds, and a general sense of creeping dread. The episode culminates when Nick’s friend and drug dealer, Calvin, tries to kill Nick to cover up his own supply chain. A struggle ensues, Calvin is shot, and when Madison and Travis arrive to help, a reanimated Calvin attacks them, forcing Nick to run him over repeatedly with a truck.
