SketchUp uses a local Cartesian coordinate system (X, Y, Z). When geo-location data is imported, SketchUp sets a "Geo-reference point." However, SketchUp is not a geodetic software.
Even though it looks different, SketchUp 2021 does have a geolocation tool. Here is how to find it: geolocation sketchup 2021

: Navigate to File > Geo-location > Add Location... . Alternatively, you can go to Window > Model Info , select the Geo-location tab, and click Add Location . : Navigate to File > Geo-location > Add Location
Use tags to turn the "Location Snapshot" and "Location Terrain" on and off as needed, so they do not get in the way during detailed modeling.

Geolocation in SketchUp 2021 was a robust and intuitive way to anchor your designs in the real world. Even though official support has ended, the fundamental steps—searching for a place, adjusting the true north, selecting import options—remain a model of how architectural software should integrate geographic context.
Unlike older versions, SketchUp 2021 allows you to drag a bounding box. Use the blue pins to adjust the area.
