Darkest Dungeon: Ancestral Edition is a gothic roguelike RPG that challenges players to manage a team of heroes as they explore dungeons, battle monsters, and uncover the secrets of the estate. The game is now available on the Nintendo Switch, offering a unique blend of exploration, strategy, and stress management.

Pros

At its core, Darkest Dungeon is a gothic roguelike RPG about managing resources, positioning, and psychological trauma. You inherit a ruined estate from your Ancestor, whose reckless occult experiments unearthed an ancient, cosmic evil beneath his manor. Your job is to recruit teams of flawed heroes, send them into shifting dungeons to reclaim the estate, and fund the restoration of the local Hamlet. The Affliction System

The Switch port of Darkest Dungeon manages to be intuitive despite the game's complex systems. The user interface is clean, and the on-screen buttons, though some users have noted can be slightly small in handheld mode, are generally responsive and well-mapped. The game supports all three of the Switch's play modes: TV mode, Tabletop mode, and Handheld mode, giving players the flexibility to experience the game wherever they go.
