While resetting the software counter gets your machine up and running immediately, the physical waste ink pads inside the bottom of your printer are still holding the accumulated ink. If you reset the counter multiple times without cleaning or replacing the physical pads, the ink will eventually overflow onto your desk. For a long-term solution, consider routing an external waste ink bottle or opening the printer casing to wash and dry the internal felt pads.
Simply resetting the software counter is not enough. You should physically clean or replace the ink absorber pads to prevent actual ink overflow inside the printer.
